Announcements Early May

The Sustaining Colorado Watersheds (SCW) conference has been held annually for the past 18 years to bring together knowledgeable and engaged community members, scientists, ecologists, water managers, educators, community leaders, young professionals, policymakers and regulators to share knowledge, network, and discuss current issues facing Colorado’s watersheds. We are excited to present the theme for the 2023 conference: "Beyond the Banks: Expanding Perspectives to Change our World." As always, the conference aims to explore innovative and inclusive approaches to watershed management that address the unique challenges we face in Colorado. This year’s Beyond the Banks theme emphasizes the need to expand our thinking, incorporate new perspectives, explore paradigm shifts, and collaborate across disciplines and sectors to continue solving complex problems. We can't wait to hear from you! We are accepting abstracts online through May 22, 2023. The agenda Committee will meet to discuss which submissions work best with this year's theme and will inform you by late June or early July if your abstract has been accepted.

REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP) FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR UPPER CLEAR CREEK WATERSHED PLAN 2023. The Upper Clear Creek Watershed Association (UCCWA) is looking to update the Upper Clear Creek Watershed Plan Update 2014 (Plan) for the watershed located from the Continental Divide downstream to Golden, including all tributaries. The original plan was created in 2005, amended in 2006, and revised in 2014. The existing 2014 plan is nearing the end of its life. The intent of this RFP is to create a new Watershed Plan based on EPA guidance, add a discussion of projects completed to date, highlight impacts from sediment and nutrients in addition to metals, add wildfire planning as it relates to water quality, reevaluate the current watershed health, and develop a list of new projects that will be beneficial to the watershed. This Plan should be completed in such a manner that it can be used for grant applications, watershed planning, and reference.

The Barr-Milton newsletter has been released this spring! The newsletter will be issued three times a year, sharing what the organization is up to and what’s going on in their watershed. Read the full issue here.
